“Black Adam” (2022)

“Black Adam” (2022) is a superhero film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the titular role. The film introduces Black Adam, one of the most powerful and complex characters in the DC Comics universe, and serves as both an origin story and a vehicle for expanding the DCEU.
The film is set in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Kahndaq, where Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson), an ancient superpowered being, is awakened after 5,000 years of imprisonment. Empowered by the gods, Adam becomes Black Adam, a figure who seeks justice by any means necessary, often through violence and destruction. His return to the modern world threatens the global power balance, attracting the attention of the Justice Society of America (JSA), a team of heroes led by Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and featuring Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo).
As Black Adam clashes with the JSA, the film explores themes of power, vengeance, and the fine line between heroism and villainy. The story delves into Black Adam’s tragic past, his motivations, and his struggle to find his place in a world that has changed dramatically since his time.
