Masters of the Universe (1987)

Masters of the Universe (1987) is a science fiction fantasy film directed by Gary Goddard, based on the popular Mattel toy line and animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The film stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, Frank Langella as Skeletor, Courteney Cox, and Meg Foster.
The story is set on the planet Eternia, where the evil sorcerer Skeletor (Frank Langella) has seized control of Castle Grayskull, imprisoning the Sorceress (Christina Pickles) and planning to take over the universe.

The heroic warrior He-Man (Dolph Lundgren) and his allies—Man-At-Arms (Jon Cypher), Teela (Chelsea Field), and the inventor Gwildor (Billy Barty)—use a Cosmic Key to escape to Earth, pursued by Skeletor’s forces.

On Earth, they encounter two teenagers, Julie (Courteney Cox) and Kevin (Robert Duncan McNeill), who inadvertently become involved in their intergalactic battle. With Skeletor’s minions closing in, He-Man and his friends must recover the Cosmic Key, return to Eternia, and stop Skeletor’s tyrannical reign.

Masters of the Universe is known for its blend of science fiction and fantasy elements, as well as its campy charm and elaborate costumes. Although it diverged significantly from its source material, the film has gained a cult following over the years, appreciated for its nostalgic value and entertaining action sequences.
