“The Lion King” (2019) is a live-action/CGI remake of Disney’s 1994 animated classic, directed by Jon Favreau. With a voice cast that includes Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film retells the beloved story of Simba, the young lion prince.
“The Lion King” (2019) follows the same basic plot as the original animated film. The story focuses on Simba (Donald Glover), a lion cub destined to become king of the Pride Lands. 
After the death of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones), Simba is manipulated by his uncle Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor) into believing that he is responsible for the tragedy. Feeling guilty and unable to face his past, Simba flees the Pride Lands and grows up in exile.
With the help of his friends Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), Simba has finally returned to reclaim his rightful place as king and restore balance to the Pride Lands. The film explores themes of responsibility, redemption and the cycle of life.
