“1408” (2007) is a supernatural horror film directed by Mikael Håfström, based on the short story by Stephen King. The film stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson and Mary McCormack.


The story is about Mike Enslin (John Cusack), a writer skeptical of paranormal phenomena. He goes to the infamous Dolphin Hotel in New York City to investigate a downtown apartment, 1408, which has a bad reputation for causing its occupants to go crazy or die.

Despite warnings from the hotel manager, Mr. Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), Mike decides to stay in the room.


Once inside, Mike experiences a series of horrifying events and super fuels his skepticism and sanity. The room is filled with a distinct evil consciousness, revealing his deepest fears and complex personal traumas. As the night falls, Mike must face his past and fight to survive the dense psychological and physical presence in the room
