The 100 (2014)

The 100 (2014) is a post-apocalyptic science fiction drama television series developed by Jason Rothenberg. The series is based on the book series of the same name by Kass Morgan and aired on The CW network.

The story is set 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse has wiped out almost all life on Earth. The only known survivors are the inhabitants of twelve space stations in Earth’s orbit prior to the apocalypse. These space stations banded together to form a single massive station called “The Ark,” where about 2,400 people live under strict laws and draconian measures to ensure survival.

As life-support systems on The Ark begin to fail, the leaders decide to send 100 juvenile delinquents down to Earth to test whether the planet has become habitable again. The group includes Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley), Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos), Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell), and Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan). These young people must navigate a perilous new world filled with unknown dangers and remnants of human civilization that have survived the apocalypse.

Upon landing, they discover that Earth is not as deserted as they were led to believe. They encounter various groups of survivors, including the Grounders, who have adapted to the harsh conditions of the new world, and other factions with their own agendas.

The series explores themes of survival, morality, leadership, and the complexity of human nature in extreme conditions. It delves into the dynamics of power, the struggle between different societies, and the ethical dilemmas faced by the characters as they fight to establish a new home on Earth.
The 100 received praise for its compelling characters, intricate plotlines, and its ability to tackle challenging themes. The show ran for seven seasons, concluding in 2020, and developed a dedicated fanbase throughout its run. It is known for its intense drama, action-packed sequences, and thought-provoking storytelling.
