Waterworld (1995)

Directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring Kevin Costner, “Waterworld” (1995) is a post-apocalyptic science fiction epic that immerses viewers in a world transformed by catastrophic climate change.

Set in a future where the polar ice caps have melted, submerging the entire Earth under water, the film follows the adventures of a lone drifter known as the Mariner, played by Kevin Costner. With gills and webbed feet, the Mariner navigates the endless ocean on his remarkable trimaran, a vessel that becomes central to the film’s narrative and visual spectacle.

The story unfolds as the Mariner encounters Helen, portrayed by Jeanne Tripplehorn, and her adopted daughter Enola, played by Tina Majorino.

They possess a precious artifact—a map to Dryland, a fabled and mythical refuge from the vast expanse of water that now dominates the planet. Their journey to find Dryland becomes a quest for hope and survival amidst the relentless challenges of the open sea.
