“The Eagle,” directed by Kevin Macdonald and released in 2011, is an engaging historical adventure film set in Roman Britain.

The story follows Marcus Aquila (played by Channing Tatum), a young Roman centurion who ventures into the dangerous and mysterious lands north of Hadrian’s Wall to recover the lost eagle standard of his father’s legion, the Ninth.
