Goodfellas (1990)

Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas,” released in 1990, stands as a quintessential masterpiece of American cinema, offering a visceral and unflinching portrayal of organized crime in New York City.

Adapted from Nicholas Pileggi’s non-fiction book “Wiseguy,” the film chronicles the rise and fall of Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta), a young man seduced by the allure of the mob lifestyle and its promises of wealth, power, and respect.

The narrative of “Goodfellas” unfolds through the eyes of Henry Hill, who narrates his journey from a wide-eyed teenager eager to join the mob to a seasoned and disillusioned criminal.

Alongside his friends and partners in crime, Jimmy Conway (played by Robert De Niro) and Tommy DeVito (played by Joe Pesci), Henry navigates the intricate and often perilous world of organized crime, climbing the ranks through violence, deception, and loyalty.
